DAY 1

Valve announced in an email that there will come a major update to the Steam Community. This update focuses on highlighting and enabling the best user-created screenshots, videos, and Workshop items for games across Steam while making it easier for the community to discuss their favorite games.

Every game on Steam will have a new Game Hub. The Hubs highlight the most popular user-created screenshots, videos, and Steam Workshop items as rated by the community and combine it with related news, discussions, and comments for the game all in one central location.

The New Steam Community is all about showing off the best content that gamers have created. With over 89 million screenshots, videos, Steam Workshop maps, levels, mods, and items, plus news articles and product updates, the community has created an unbelievable wealth of content around their favorite games. ~ Emily Kent at Valve

New features announced each day this week, beta access available soon.

How do the little guys like us fit into the equation? Should we move aggressively into DEVHUB stuff? Clearly STEAM will always have a massive advantage in promotion and distribution of customizations - but not necessarily in community feedback or in aiding development & learning. My guess is they'll be monetizing customizations soon, like $0.99 for a custom map with 30% going to STEAM.

I know what you are feeling man.
See, all the talent will flow towards the steam workshop because it will enable people to make a quick buck out of it but people will still need to learn from somewhere. They obviously won't accept spam aim maps anytime soon.
Oh and believe it or not but the $0.99 for a custom map days are approaching soon.

But all in all, you can't say you didn't saw this coming.

    Oh man.. this sucks :(
