Points for help.

When ever i start up steam, i got this message:

Steam.exe (main exception): unable to start Steam Engine: *SteamStartEngine(0x13e8b8) failed with error 200: Connection Reset, WinSock Error 10054 "Connection reset by peer"

The only option the error message gives me is "OK." I really want to play my legal copy of HL2 so please help me out when ever you get this.

I looked on the steam support page and forums and found nothing that can help. I've look at the FPSB forums. I close down all backround programs before i play too. I have no custom windows skins.

    I got that message too yesterday. I just waited a bit and then steam worked, you shouldn't need to reinstall.

    The same error happened to me 2 days ago. I restarted steam and it worked just fine...I hate steam.. sometime.

    Pull out ur internet cable, restart ur computer, after it's on again and steam said it hasn't found a connection close it then put the cable back in and restart steam
